Coming Out Poem

Sep. 3rd, 2009 | 02:23 am

Every queer poet has to have one right? I wanted mine to be a little different. Just cooked this up tonight, probably going to do revisions, suggestions welcome.

Sledgehammer

Jun. 19th, 2009 | 02:29 am

This is a poem I've been trying to write for a very, very long time. It was extremely difficult for me to finally work these feelings into a piece I can be proud of. This poem means a helluva lot to me. It's definitely not perfect yet, but I think I have a start.

A Blender Has Other Settings

Yet another old poem revision. This is kind of a fun one, I like it much better now.

I Have This Thing

Jun. 19th, 2009 | 02:25 am

This is a poem revision as well, from a very old poem actually, like, 10th grade or something. I redid the whole thing because I liked the ideas I had in it, I just didn't like the way I portrayed it.

Salt

This is a poem revision. I fixed a lot of the problems and reasons I didn't like this poem, much much happier with it now.

Potato Soup Lullabye

Feb. 29th, 2008 | 12:29 pm

Been kickin' this one around for a while. I still need to work on it more, but I feel at this point it's at least ready for a little critique. I haven't finished any work in so long it feels good to have... something again.

Something old I decided to revisit and finish. This one is painfully personal.

If Toast Was a Skyscraper

Apr. 24th, 2007 | 12:18 am

I was digging through old work and I found this one, I thought it was fun, so I decided to post it here. There are meant to be two voices here, the left voice, the right voice, and both together in the center. I really want to perform this somewhere, but I'd need someone to perform it with and a little practice time.
Also, if the formatting didn't come out right, let me know, I had to make this one in a table to make it show up right. It works for me, but I've had some funky problems with tables before.

Selecting a Reader

Apr. 23rd, 2007 | 12:59 am

This was written in responce to Poet Laureate Ted Kooser's poem of the same title. If you havn't read it before, please take a look at his poem before you read mine.

Memoirs of an Eggplant in Sixty Minutes

Experimental... very experimental. Does it work? I have no idea.

Omnicthonus

Apr. 23rd, 2007 | 12:44 am

Pronounced: "ohm-NIK-thon-us" I put a lot of work into this one, a lot of themes of my life that I tried to project. I have a lot of fun performing this one too, and it generally gets a great reaction.

Paris Hilton, You're a Bitch

Apr. 23rd, 2007 | 12:40 am

One of my all time favorites to perform. I wrote this one mostly for fun, but it gets a great crowd reaction. It should be noted that I do not hate Paris Hilton, simply the idea of Paris Hilton.

Ballet Slippers

Apr. 23rd, 2007 | 12:37 am

One of my more serious pieces. I was playing a little bit with mirroring. It got second place in a poetry contest once too.

"Two Lost Souls Swimmin' In a Fish Bowl"

Apr. 23rd, 2007 | 12:17 am

Homage to Pink Floyd in the title there. "Wish You Were Here" has been one of the songs that has most brought me and my boyfriend together. Needless to say this is a poem about him and our undying love. It's a bit choppy, partially because it's been edited so many times over the years. However I didn't write this for anyone else, I wrote this for him.

One of my favorites. Short, sweet, and spunky.

Savior

I like the simplicity in this one, not much to say about it though. A rather old piece.

Dances with the Sun

Apr. 22nd, 2007 | 11:04 pm

I wrote this piece on a camping trip a long time ago. I had in mind this idea of a children's picturebook, and designed and structured it as such. To date, this is still one of my absolutly favorite pieces.
